ATV State Legislative Resource Bank

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recognizes and appreciates the diversity of state positions on the matter of ATV safety regulation. To the extent that regulation of rider behavior (helmet laws, age/use restrictions, etc.) is a matter more appropriately addressed and effectively enforced by state and local governments, the resource bank is intended to assist lawmakers and policy advocates with the development of practical measures aimed at improving rider safety.

44 states have already passed ATV safety laws of one form or another, with each statute tailored to meet the needs of its particular region and constituency. Click on the links below to learn more about your state’s ATV safety regulations. All documents are in portable document format (pdf).
